WHAT IS LIFE?

THE ONE ABOUT BEING A MASTERPIECE AND A WORK IN PROGRESS.

YOU ARE ALLOWED TO BE BOTH A MASTERPIECE AND A WORK IN PROGRESS AT THE SAME TIME. Say that 5 times and purpose to believe it, because I have realised this is where the balance lies.

People always ask: how can you have it all? Is it possible to have it all? Well, you can, and it is possible, but not all at the same time. You can be healed in one area, and still struggling in another. You can be really good at your job, but have relational issues that prevent you from building a lasting relationship. You can be an amazing parent, but suck tremendously at building a business.

And you know what? I love this about being a human, because it reminds me that failing or not doing well at something does not mean that I am incompetent or incapable. It just means that I need to figure out what the best way to apply myself is.

I hope you know that wanting to be perfect at everything is actually a trauma response. It is trauma that comes from the pressure applied to you by people, to do the best and be the best at all times and fail at nothing at any given time. For some, this is actually a very big struggle because it becomes ingrained in your mind that you are supposed to live life like this and when you're not, then you are failing. Then that puts you in a hamster wheel where you're going and going, and going, but to no end. No rest, no empathy, no satisfaction. That is no way to live. If you find that your mind works this way, therapy is a good place to seek relief.

I want you to know that the beauty of being a human being is being really good at something, while working on improving yourself in something else. That is the reality of life.

love,Mumbi.
